The exam fever has just begun, and most learners are busy going through enough information to reproduce them on their papers. Most learners are eager to use their hard work for every ounce of benefit.

• Sleep Well

It is a well-known fact that our brains perform better when they are given enough rest. If you sit for an exam while exhausted, you are likely to have a hard time trying to recall the information you need to perform well. You can study an hour or so a day to keep yourself focused but try and avoid studying at the last minute as much as possible.

• Use ‘Mnemonics’ to remember information

A mnemonic is a tool that helps us remember certain facts or large amounts of information. They can come in the form of a song, rhyme, acronym, image, phrase, or sentence. A Mnemonic helps us remember facts and are particularly useful when the order of things is important. Here’s one example below:

Do you know the order of the planets (from closest to furthest from the sun)? They are:

Mercury, Venus, Earth, Mars, Jupiter, Saturn, Uranus, Neptune

• Refer to past exam papers

Past exam papers are vital. They show the layout of the actual exam and how questions can be subdivided into different sections. It's good practice to study a specific topic and then do exam questions, keep an eye on time constraints, and stick rigidly to them.

• Talk it out

Exams can bring in loads of anxiety and it’s essential that you express your emotions to your school counselor or professor. Discussing upcoming exams with other students and studying together can also be beneficial for your well-being. Good emotional support goes a long way in navigating difficult and stressful situations.

• Review your answers

Resist the temptation of leaving the hall before time. Ensure that you have answered all questions, have not made silly mistakes, numbered answers correctly, punctuations and decimal points.
